Do you think your handset is properly covered?
Many people don't bother covering their mobile, or take out insurance that's offered when they get a phone. Others rely on car, travel or home insurance and may not realise that they may not be fully covered. Mobile phone insurance from £4.95 covers your phone against theft, loss (optional), accidental damage, even if it goes wrong. It's nearly always cheaper than policies sold by mobile phone sellers too. And if the worst does happen, you don't just get your handset repaired or replaced, but you'll be reimbursed for all the games, films and music you've downloaded, and your accessories too. Doesn't my household or car insurance cover my phone?
Just like any other possession, your mobile phone can be covered by other insurance policies but it's important to know exactly where you stand in each case.
Car Policy - Many car policies will have a limit on the amount of possessions you can claim for if your car is stolen or involved in an accident. With an unlocked replacement iPhone costing up to £709 (as of December 2013) you might find your car policy doesn't stack up, particularly if you have other possessions you need to claim for as well.
Travel cover - You need to look carefully at travel policies for compensation limits and other exclusions too. What if you lost your mobile phone on a train on the way to the airport - would it be covered? Is it too expensive for run-of-the-mill travel cover? Your policy from us will cover you for travel abroad for up to 90 days, all included in the price.
Household contents cover - Again you need to look at policy limits. For example the current price of an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is around £600 (as of December 2013) which puts it above the £500 limit that many household insurance policy limits have for any single item. Situations might arise where you aren't covered by a contents policy too. You'll need to read the policy documentation to see if you're covered if your phone is broken or stolen at work or while you're out shopping. It's almost certain that no household policy will replace your downloads or replace your phone simply because it's broken either.
Other gadgets - If you're carrying a tablet or laptop around as well as a mobile phone then you might want to consider taking out more than one policy. With our
you can cover up to five gadgets for a price that's slightly more than three individual policies.
